Comments: In addition, I also received a $250 gas gift card. I negotiated the price of the car down to $354.12 below dealer invoice. I then applied two rebates: the first was $500 Cash Back, the second was $500 Student Bonus.
This was the buying strategy I used:
1) I obtained financing before I began car shopping.
2) I initially found a car I liked, used the New Car Buyer's Offer Spreadsheet and invoice data from the internet, to calculate an offering price range (between 3% and 5% dealer profit), added taxes and licensing, then checked to see if financing that amount fit my budget.
3) I then found 4 different Mustangs, but very similarly equipped (same year, same trim package, different colors or minor options) at 4 different dealerships and sent them each an offer at the low end of my range, through their internet sales department. Understand that of these 4 cars, I would have been happy to buy any of them.
4) As they each contacted me, I told them that I was working with 3 other dealerships, and that I was prepared to buy a car that day, wherever I could get the best deal. I'd then summarize the other dealership offers in my reply, and make a counter offer to the dealership.
5) This went back and forth for a day resulting in my deal. Basically, they fought it out and I just sat back.

Comments: I WAS TOLD BY MANAGER, A NEW "PARIOTIC ACT" WAS PLACED BY PRESIDENT MR OBAMA, STARTING 01.01.2011. CAR DEALERS WILL NOT NOGOCIATE OR EVEN TALK ABOUT CAR PRICE WITHOUT RUNNING CREDIT REPORTS FIRST.
