Comments: Date Purchased 02/13/2008; Used your site to learn about Dealer Holdbacks and pricing options. Initially sent out an email request to both Chevrolet and GMC on availability of Hybrids for viewing and pricing. After viewing one Hybrid at Dealer #1, considered Tahoe Hybrid versus conventional Tahoe using a spreadsheet I developed to evaluate time for payback (8 plus years - in time for new batteries). Could not validate Hybrid purchase for this vehicle. Received email and phone follow-up from 8 local dealers. Next looked at Avalanche, Silverado Tahoe, and Suburban vehicles at 3 dealers directly. Created my own spreadsheet to compare vehicle type, colors, and options as a weighted point scale versus pricing to select best value. Pulled down available vehicles in proximity for database comparison of options versus costs. Confirmed with Edmonds, Chevrolet build your own vehicle, and Kelley. Spreadsheet identified vehicles that dropped out due to lack of sufficient points for desired options. Determined best vehicle to meet my needs was one Avalanche located 400 miles away. However, final pricing came down to 2 dealers employing your spreadsheet. This proved to be my best deal on a vehicle since my first new purchase back in 1974. Won't make the same mistakes again with paying Invoice.

Comments: First visit was on a Friday late afternoon. Got sticker price info. Asked to come in on Sat. with husband. Did so about 10:15AM. We asked about price & were repeatedly told "we're working on it" & 'It's complicated". Wasted the whole day and finally about 4:30Pm got "their best price". List price minus the federal cash rebate of $3500. They weren't dealing-they was jerkin us white folk around.

Comments: This particular G8 GT is red with the red/black leather seats. Fairly hard to find in my area (I've been looking at all dealers for the last 3 months). This car could have commanded sticker, and perhaps should have, but I was able to use your tips to out fox the sales manager! I think I got a steal of a deal due to GM factory to consumer Cash rebates going on at this time, along with GM credit card benefit of free "up" to $2,000; along with getting the car slightly below "invoice" price (not actual cost to dealer as you pointed out!!!).
